The Other Facet of Athens

Athens-a place in Greece, which is considered as the fount of knowledge, and a great repository of culture, is also famous for one thing, about which I recently came to know. The place is a wonderful place for travelers especially because of the marvelous museums, and exclusive pieces of art. I recently got the information that it is also famous for one of the most popular meat-markets around. I have never visited such a meat-market in Greece earlier. I was really amazed to see it. You can just have a view of the way in which pigs are hanged. It seems as if they are alive. They will grunt, roll their eyes. But, you immediately realize that they are not alive.

I wonder how people kill animals for exclusivity of taste. I am a votary of vegetarian food as far as possible. I believe that the flora and fauna of our earth are precious and cannot be replaced or substituted. So, I think that we should practice abstinence in this matter, if we can do so without difficulty. Well, this is just an opinion.

I was also surprised to notice the gender difference prevalent in these cafes which have transformed themselves into meat-markets. As you can also see that there is hardly any woman in this picture. I could find none. You tell me, what are your views regarding the ‘invisibility’ of women at places of such kind?

Why do Indians fly lesser?

Monday, August 27th, 2007

It is a survey being done by Assocham and Ernst & Young, which has brought out a surprising data about air travel in India as compared to other parts of the world.
I was amazed to know that people of India fly lesser than those of the U.S.A., china, srilanka, and even Pakistan.

The survey depicts that on an average of 1000 people, Indians go for 20 trips, whereas the Americans and Sri Lankans carry out 2300, and 60 trips respectively.

The major reason for this remarkable difference is that the market of air travel is the least accessible in India. Air travel is one of the most costly in India.

The problem of poor infrastructure is also a major difficulty which leads to loss of customers. The lack of tunnel facilities, services to the travelers, lack of ground handling system has led to great difficulty for the tourists. These problems are a great barrier for Indian tourists. There are 400 airports in India but there is an under-developed network for air-connection.

The passengers who travel by railways for premier services are three times the number of those who travel by air.

I think that we need to promote our air travel for a better tourism.

Tornado hits Costa Maya

Tornado hits Costa Maya

Costa Maya, a popular port of Mexico, has been hit by a tempest, which has caused severe damages. The harbor is so beautiful that it looks just like a paradise, but with the indemnity that has emerged because of the fury of nature, it has become a vast ruin. The damage is estimated to be extremely rigorous, and the condition of the port is lamentable. Costa Maya is one of the most visited harbors in the Caribbean islands, and therefore, the consequences of this tornado are going to be harsh for the tourism of the region.

It is predicted by the experts that the haven will not be in a condition of operations for at least half a year. The sales and marketing administrator of the region, Cesar Lizarraga, is anxious because of the loss suffered by the dock. He was reluctant to give any new information, but remarked that the tornado has smashed almost half infrastructure of the port. The expenditure on the reparation of the damage caused will be extremely high. The port will not be able to function for around eight months, according to Lizarraga. There will be conferences arranged with the experts to deal with the situation.

The artificial harbor, which was nothing six years ago, beamed with vitality and life because of the crowds of tourists who had fun and frolic in this wonderful place. Now, the natural agents have turned it back to almost nothing. I remember a line by Tennyson, describing the mercilessness of nature: “Nature is red in tooth and claw”.

I hope that the port is revitalized as soon as possible.

Revels in Lebanon

Lebanon is again beaming with life and vibrancy with loads of tourists visiting this wonderful place. It seems that conditions are now normal after the combat between Hezbollah and Israel that took lace last year. The condition was baleful and had led to many casualties. Some time ago, it was felt that even this year, the beaches and resorts of the place would not experience the feel of visitors, but the scene is completely altered now. It may be that the travel-freaks are unable to resist the charm and attraction of the clubs, resorts and beaches of the place.

The tourism is now being promoted with utmost attention so as to attract more and more tourists who will revitalize the land with a new freshness. Many concerts, fashion shows, and other similar events are being organized for the travelers.
Damour, Rue Gemayze and Rue Monot, and all other tourist destination are now full of revelers who are ready to immerse themselves in enjoyment, fun and frolic.

The climate is favorable there …every kind of climate, that is, the political, regional, and also the economical. I also went there recently to spend some time and had a lot of fun. The resorts are simply exciting and offer leisure and the stay there is absolutely pleasurable.

I would advice you too to go there and have a merry time.
