Santa Cruz de la Sierra and the National Park Noel Kempf

Tuesday, May 6th, 2008

In Santa Cruz, the capital of the easternmost region of Bolivia (the one that borders with Paraguay and Brazil for instance), Sunday held a referendum whose goal was to demand greater autonomy for the region by the central government. In this case, instances autonomistiche are amplified by the contrast between the central government of progressive trends, supported mainly by populations investigation, and the local government in the region, where a conservative majority prevails, supported by cruceños or the descendants of Spanish colonists.

Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Holy Cross Mountain, has about half a million inhabitants, up to 60 years was little more than a village, with many roads are not paved where it was not difficult to see go carts drawn by oxen that dirigevano towards fields . The agricultural vocation remained, but in most modern forms, similar to those of more developed western city. Alongside these activities, is also developing the tourism sector, thanks to the tropical climate and proximity to beautiful nature, still intact, as the Noel Kempff National Park where, in addition to the spectacular waterfalls of the river Pauserna, to be kept one of the most tropical forests extended and less beaten South America.

The tour starts from the helmet viejo, the ring inner city (a sort of Old Town), where the Plaza 24 de Septiembre, the Cathedral of San Lorenzo over the house of culture Raul Otero Reich, where among other Things can admire objects of local handicrafts. Outside the case viejo can visit the museum Arqueologico where they are preserved specimens of indigenous culture as the chiriguanos and chiquitanos. To relax, not get to park Noel Kempff, you can make walks to the Parque Arenal, the most famous of Santa Cruz, or along the Rio Pirai, perhaps stopping in one of its cabañas to taste the local dishes outdoors .

The news on the referendum held Sunday on La Repubblica, Peacereporter and Euronews.

The Montenegro struggling with housing wild?

Tuesday, May 6th, 2008

There risiamo. Once again we should complain that they have lost areas where the beauty of unspoiled nature was supplanted by cementificazione wild, lack of planning and a sense of the future of mankind, hotels, also known as eco monsters, facts on cliffs rise to peak or 10 metres from beaches dall’incredibile charm, this at least according to a report of CNN.

The Montenegro, the last born in Europe (at least among those universally recognized as states) is evolving from small pearl of the Balkans in modern Dubai Adriatic, hoping that its purpose is not to become yet another of palazzinari and Torvaianica of abuse.

Since gained independence from Serbia in 2006, Montenegro is crossed by the boom, with strong investment, especially Russians and British, in the sector of hotels, resort for tourists or even small villages built from scratch. The result are small, narrow coastal roads, intasate by means of trucks and buildings, forests and hills divelte to prepare the ground for new construction.

So from a reading of reportage I made the idea that if you love wildlife and unspoiled, hour visit Montenegro, because in a few years could exist only on postcards or in some old post.

Bed & breakfast in Cefalù: The sweet life B & B

Friday, May 2nd, 2008

If you want to have some hope of seeing the beach Cefalù as the view david when he took this photograph is better than not programmiate your stay in Sicily when the city was invaded by tourists; better to have an off-season, when the temperature than those shares allows to be the first bathrooms.

On Frommer’s, a site dedicated to international travellers, chock full of reviews, I found a good review of Bed & Breakfast, which is reported as excellent alternative to more traditional hotel, the Dolce Vita Bed and Breakfast.

The B & B is located in one hundred citizen, but is not far from the beach that you can reach with a short walk. Located in a historic building, has 5 rooms, with a terrace overlooking the sea equipped with a barbecue, deck chairs and umbrellas, the B & B also has access to the Internet. A double, with breakfast, is around 75 U.S. dollars per night (at current exchange 50 euros).

The site Reserver.it, a search engine for hotels and facilities for visits, I found availability to May, again in Cefalu, in the B & B Ale from Roby Bed & Breakfast, near the cathedral (around 40 euros), and Ma & I In the upper part of Cefalù, always around 40 euros.

Puerto la Cruz, between entertainment and nature of the Parque Nacional Mochima

Friday, May 2nd, 2008

Puerto la Cruz is no longer the Caribbean paradise that was the first to the excessive exploitation of this area, a tourist town like many, but with the advantage of a beautiful promenade (Paseo Colón the passaggiata of Columbus), a lively but not confusing nightlife And above all connections with some of the major tourist attractions-bathing of Venezuela.
From here you can leave for the island of Margarita, or for others who face the coasts of the city, including Las C
himanas and Cachicamo. Or you can rent a small boat, among the many channels moored in the port, and visit the Parque Nacional Mochima, a marine park spread between different islands, very beautiful.
The park covers a vast area of the Venezuelan coast and more than 30 islands in the face of this. The coastal features a lush greenery, gulfs, bays, rocks that are thrown on the Caribbean sea, while the navy goes to the greater of glia sea lovers and divers. However one of the most beautiful areas of Venezuela.
