Skiing Season in Australia
Friday, June 8th, 2007
It’s snowing in Australia but do you think that all this is real? Of course not…it’s snowing there but this much is not enough for skiing. So, the ski resorts have to depend on snow-making in the opening season. Throb and Perisher Blue- the two major ski-resorts are hopeful but cannot confirm how the slopes will look after four days of snowing.
Caroline Ross, a spokeswoman for Perisher Blue avers that the valleys are becoming patchy but there is not ample snow for the ski sport. Conditions have been appropriate for snow fall as the weather has been cold and there have been showers over the alpine, according to Dean Stewart, a senior forecaster at the Victorian Weather Office.
Snow-making operations are in full swing, and they are making snow on nights with sub-zero temperatures. The forecast is for chilly nights to continue, so snow-making will continue until the opening season. The opening season is for partying and skiing both. Therefore people carry both their dancing shoes as well as ski-shoes.
What are you waiting for? Enjoy the chill and snow in Australia this season.
