The European Heritage Days 2008 edition

Returning the European Heritage Days, a weekend that we sent each year to discover the hidden treasures of art and architecture of our country. The 2008 edition, edited in Italy by Fai, stipulates that, on days on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 September, about 1,000 of free events throughout the peninsula and opening of 250 sites chosen by Fai and Autostrade per l’Italia. There will be only spoiled for choice, perhaps directed by geographic, to identify which building, garden, monument rediscover, perhaps counting on a beautiful sunny day late summer.

Scrolling quickly upcoming days, starting from Piedmont, you can visit the circuit of churches in Serravalle and the Castle of Ricetto Ghemme; Albergati Palace and the Castle of Malatestiano Longiano Emilia, the five historic buildings of Amelia and underground Orvieto in Umbria And the Abbey of San Giovanni in Venere, the Palazzo d’Avalos and civic museums in Abruzzo, the Church of the Templars “All Saints” and the Plan of Fosse wheat in Puglia …

So you only have to identify the place you most curious and the need to prepare for a trip out of town.

Vatican City is one of a popular and the smallest city, state in the world, which has only 880 people inhabited, but is one of the most important city governing international politic. It is in the middle of Rome and surrounded with some of world’s most beautiful Cathedral and museums with in 14.4 acres of land area. Vatican City is an independent country, which is completely bordered by the city of Rome and is also called the center of Roman Catholicism. It is surrounded by the Tiber River which draws out from west about 1,200 m in length and 800 m in its widest point.

Entering into the city of Rome which is situated on the river Tiber, first building you could come across is Via Della Conciliazione, which is in St. Peter’s Basilica. After walking around inside be sure to go to the roof to view its scenery all around. You could also visit the in house museum and see the cavern and tombs below, where St. Peter and John Paul 2, among other popes are obscured. The main altar of the building is made with bronze and beautiful architect which is very interesting to see.
